Many Glasgow Wedding Suppliers offer a promotional discount for bookings made on the day and is is worthwhile checking out an Exhibitors’ List before attending so you know who will be there and what they are offering if you book on the day. You should not feel under pressure to make bookings on the day but do be aware that the best Wedding Suppliers fill up their Diaries quickly, even for two years ahead!

In order to be best prepared, here are our tips:

  • if the Groom-to-be is not going with you, plan carefully who else to take along: mum, bridesmaids, best friend, or all of them for a girlie Wedding day out
  • prepare for a long day and wear comfortable shoes as you’ll spend most of the day walking around different Wedding Suppliers’ stands and standing chatting
  • know in advance and ask Suppliers on the day about any discount being offered for securing a booking that day. Remember to take a form of payment if case you do decide to make bookings on the day
  • bring along a Diary, it’s good to take notes and to jot down prices or ideas so you can remember later but it’s also handy to have for booking appointments for further meetings or trials
  • do not be afraid to discuss your particular requirements with a Wedding Supplier, if you do not see what you are looking for on display, then ask! Suppliers have a limited space in which to exhibit and cannot bring with them an example of everything which they can do or offer but they may stock it or can provide it
  • if something catches your eye and you love it but it is way outside your budget, then do discuss this with a Wedding Supplier, they can often provide alternatives or negociate something different within an offered package
  • if you feel you would like more or private time, with a particular Supplier, then ask to meet them again or to visit their showroom. Do not wait until you get home to do this as someone else may well have secured your Wedding date by then
  • be open to new ideas, even if you have your heart set on something, do look around to see what else is on offer and at things about which you never thought
  • enter every Competition on the go at Suppliers’ stands, someone has to win and if every penny is a prisoner, every little helps
  • collect flyers and business cards from all the Wedding Suppliers as you may decide later on you liked the look of a particular package but no longer have the contact details
  • take your time – look at everything on offer, ask questions, go back to compare packages, have a glass of champagne, do not feel rushed into anything and enjoy the experience

Bridal Accessory Trends for 2012

As we launch into 2012, we asked some of our Wedding Suppliers on www.edinburghbridesweddingguide.com and www.theglasgowgirlsweddingguide.com to share some of their thoughts on what we will see on trend in Weddings in the year ahead!

In the first of these blogs, we chatted to Louise Graham from LHG Designs at Wedding and Baby about her inspirations for her 2012 collections.

2011 will be remembered in the Wedding Industry and for all Brides planning their Weddings, as the year of the Royal Weddings. We waited with baited breath to see the dress on Kate Middleton and then those of Princess Charlene and of Zara Philips and sucked in every detail the camera angles could show us.

The lace on Kate’s Sarah Burton designed dress will inspire many of us into 2012 with designs incorporating the lace sleeves and lace in general reflecting a softer, more romantic silhoutte to Wedding dresses.

Louise Graham from LHG Designs at Wedding and Baby predicts that in 2012 we will see  Victoriana style dresses making a big statement up and down the aisles. These dresses will range from the very flamboyant full skirts to the flapper style dresses.

www.weddinandbaby.co.uk

Louise’s interest is of course, in the Wedding accessories and she was glued to examiming Kate Middleton’s traditonal tiara (Cartier Halo) for the big day, followed by her bridesmaids who wore flowers in their hair.

Other key Weddings of 2011 which Louise looked at were that of Lily Allen and Kate Moss where again flowers in the hair were seen, not only on the Bride who wore them either side of her head, but also in the bridesmaids.

www.weddingandbaby.co.uk

Inspired by the traditions of the Victorian Brides for hair accessories Louise tells us that, “For their Victorian Bridal headdress, country maids wound wildflowers into a wreath or, depending on the season, would gild small branches of leaves and wheat, then shape them into a golden coronet.  Of course, Royal Brides were an exception to the botanical wreath rule, wearing crown jewels rather than some simple flowery, pastoral crown!”

www.weddingandbaby.co.uk

Of course this trend won’t feel comfortable for all Brides so how do they incorporate that into their style?

At LHG Designs, Louise designs bespoke ranges as well as working with each Bride on a one-to-one basis if you have a particular inspiration in mind. Louise also predicts that,”We will see the return of more tradional yet vintage style tiaras in 2012/13, again based on the traditional tiaras worn last year at the Royal Weddings.”

www.weddingandbaby.co.uk

Louise is also designing hair accessories and jewellery using a Rhombus or Diamond shape which she tips to be a hot new look, “From necklaces, earrings, headbands and cuffs, rhinestone diamond shapes have been popular towards the end of 2011.”

Louise also predicts that the trend of changing out of the Wedding dress for the evening reception will become popular as seen at none other than the Wedding of Kim Kardashian. How fantastic to be able to have two stunning outfits for your big day – but that’s a whole other Blog Post!

Many thanks to Louise for sharing some thoughts and designs with us. LHG Designs will be exhibiting at The Glasgow Girls Wedding Fayreon Sunday 22nd January at Pollokshields Burgh Hall from 12 -5pm where you can come and meet Louise herself and chat through your ideas. Entry is completely FREE!
